TCL&P Celebrating its 100th Anniversary at Friday Night Live

(Traverse City, Michigan) —Traverse City Light & Power (TCL&P) will celebrate its 100th anniversary at Friday Night Live on August 10th on the corner of Front Street and Cass Street in downtown Traverse City beginning at 5:30 p.m.

The community is invited to attend this family friendly event which will include bucket truck demonstrations, an energy efficient bike demonstration where kids can pedal a bike to see how much effort it takes to light up a row of incandescent light bulbs compared to compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFL), along with other energy-related demonstrations.

The first 500 kids will receive a TCL&P hard hat and adults will be able to pick-up a free CFL while supplies last. A special 100th anniversary Morsel has been created and will be given away at the event. There will also be a history table chronicling TCL&P’s past 100 years.

“Light and Power has been a part of the Traverse City community for the past 100 years, providing reliable and affordable electricity to area homes and businesses,” said Ed Rice, L&P executive director. “We invite the community to come down and celebrate TCL&P’s 100th anniversary, and its long standing commitment to the community, with us this Friday.”

For more information regarding this event and TCL&P’s 100th anniversary, see the website at www.tclp.org.
