TCL&P Seeking New Direction
(Traverse City, Michigan) — The Traverse City Light & Power (TCL&P) board voted 4 to 3 to terminate the contract of the executive director, Ed Rice, at its regular board meeting held on October 23, 2012. This action immediately ended Rice’s employment after nearly five years.
“The Board made a very difficult decision at this past Tuesday evening’s meeting to terminate the contract of executive director Ed Rice,” said board chairman, Pat McGuire. “I want to assure all Light and Power stakeholders that a genuine effort is already underway to identify and correct those shortcomings that brought us to this situation, and the board is fully committed to making Light and Power a better and stronger organization.”
A special board meeting is scheduled for Friday, October 26 at 5:15 p.m. at the Governmental Center, 400 Boardman Avenue, to discuss the hiring process of a new executive director and conduct a review of all major TCL&P projects. A long-term interim director will also be discussed at the meeting. Tim Arends, TCL&P’s controller, was appointed by the board as the interim executive director for the immediate future.
