TCL&P customers can receive a credit on their utility bill by recycling inefficient, yet still working, dehumidifiers, room air conditioners and refrigerators for free at the Clean Up and Green Up event on March 10. TCL&P will give customers a $15 credit on their next electric bill for recycling a dehumidifier or room air conditioner and a $60 credit for recycling a refrigerator.
TCL&P is partnering with the Michigan Green Consortium for the biannual Clean Up and Green Up event that will be held in Traverse City from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 280 Hughes Drive, home to American Waste’s solid waste handling facility.
While all community members can participate by recycling both working and non-working units, in order to qualify for the bill credit, participants must be a TCL&P customers and the units turned in must still be in working condition, as required by the Michigan Public Service Commission’s State Energy Optimization program. Customers are asked to bring a copy of their electric bill to receive the credit.
