Deputy Director of L&P Resigning

Board Chairman Meets with Staff to Announce Change

(Traverse City, Michigan) — The Board of Directors and staff for Traverse City Light & Power (www.tclp.org) has received a resignation letter from its Deputy Director, Greg Pierce. John Welch, chairman of the L&P Board of Directors met with L&P staff this morning (Monday 3-24-08) at the Hastings Street office to announce Pierce’s resignation. He also personally thanked the staff for their hard work and understanding through what he termed a “difficult period of adjustment and change.” Welch told the L&P staff that a new Interim Director should be named by mid-April.

Jim Cooper, Key Accounts and Marketing Manager for L&P will temporarily manage L&P staff until an Interim Director is hired.

“The Board is working diligently toward finding people that will provide a level of leadership with whom we and the Light & Power staff will be comfortable,” said Welch. He added that the L&P Board had originally interviewed four excellent Interim Director candidates with extensive management and engineering experience. He said the

Board has narrowed their choice to two candidates and is checking their references. The Board will also receive a personality profile report on each of the candidates before selecting one.

Pierce’s resignation comes on the heels of the resignation of the Executive Director, Richard Smith, just a little over a week ago. Pierce had assumed some of the administrative duties of L&P at that time.
