(Traverse City, Michigan) — Ed Rice, Executive Director of Traverse City Light & Power (www.tclp.org) has announced that Karen E. Feahr has been hired by L&P as Energy Supply Manager. This is a new position L&P established at Rice’s recommendation. According to Rice, Feahr will focus on achieving L&P’s strategic goal to “Insulate ratepayers from volatile power markets, meet anticipated demand growth, and to manage power purchased through the Michigan Public Power Agency.”  Her primary responsibility will be to develop an electric generation portfolio for Light and Power that assures a low cost, long term, reliable and diversified electric supply for Light and Power customers.

Feahr comes to L&P from the Electric Generation Department at Consumers Energy Company (Consumers) based in Jackson, Michigan. She has over 30 years of experience with Consumers in the electric generation, power purchase and transmission/distribution areas. She was also the Purchase, Interchange and Wholesale Power Director for Consumers.

Feahr had previously been the Director of Contracts and Tariffs at Michigan Electric Transmission Company (METC), where she was responsible for negotiating and administering contracts and tariffs with multiple electric utilities. She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in business from Spring Arbor University.

“She is a very knowledgeable, articulate, energetic and innovative individual,” said Rice. “We are pleased to have her join us.”
