Meet the Winner of TCLP’s Public Power Week Coloring Contest!

We’re excited to announce that Riley is the winner of TCLP’s 2026 Public Power Coloring Contest!

We received many colorful and creative entries from young artists in our community. To select the winner, the artwork was shared anonymously with TCLP staff, who voted for their favorite entry. Riley’s community-powered scene received the most votes.

Her winning artwork features a colorful neighborhood powered by electricity, complete with homes, trees, city buildings, an electric vehicle and a smiling transmission tower. It was a creative interpretation of how public power connects and supports our community.

As the contest winner, Riley will receive a $50 Amazon gift card. Her drawing will also be submitted to the Michigan Municipal Electric Association’s Currents magazine for a chance to be featured in an upcoming issue.

The coloring contest was part of TCLP’s celebration of Public Power Week, which recognizes the value of community-owned, not-for-profit electric utilities. Public power means that TCLP serves the people of Traverse City, with decisions made locally and our community’s needs at the center of what we do.

Thank you to every young artist who entered the contest. We enjoyed seeing your creativity and appreciate everyone who helped us celebrate Public Power Week.

Congratulations, Riley!
