Questions about electric vehicle cost, charging, driving range, battery production and environmental impact are common – and outdated information can make the answers difficult to understand. Cold temperatures can reduce driving range and slow charging, but EVs operate year round in northern climates. Preconditioning the vehicle while it is plugged in, using heated seats and planning charging stops can help preserve winter range.
Current EV ranges vary considerably, and expanding fast-charging networks make longer trips possible – but drivers should still plan around their vehicle, weather and route.

Many drivers can meet their daily needs using a standard 120-volt outlet, although Level 2 charging is faster and more convenient. The right setup depends on daily mileage, parking access, vehicle type and the home’s electrical system.
