Renewable Energy

Traverse City Light & Power is building a cleaner, more diverse energy portfolio through local renewable generation, long-term power purchase agreements and partnerships with public power agencies and renewable energy developers. These investments provide TCLP customers with electricity generated from solar, wind and landfill gas resources located in Traverse City and throughout Michigan.

TCLP is working toward 100% renewable energy usage by 2040 while continuing to prioritize reliable service, responsible financial planning and long-term value for its customers. Heritage Stoney Corners Wind Farm

TCLP is purchasing the electric generation from five two megawatt wind turbines near Cadillac. These wind turbines stand 328 feet tall and have a blade diameter of 303 feet.

M-72 Solar

TCLP along with the City of Traverse City and Heritage Sustainable Energy, LLC celebrated the completion of the M-72 Solar Project in fall 2017. The project will provide 1 megawatt of solar energy toward the City of Traverse City’s 100% renewable goal.

Granger Landfill Gas

TCLP and the other municipal members of the Michigan Public Power Agency are purchasing energy from several facilities in southern Michigan.

Assembly Solar (Ranger)

Located in Shiawassee County, Ranger Power’s Assembly Solar project spanS over 1,900 acres making it the largest solar power generation facility in Michigan. Once complete, the Assembly Solar Project will generate at least 239 megawatts of electricity.

Pegasus Wind Farm

Located in Tuscola County, TCLP along with other municipal members of the Michigan Public Power Agency are purchasing from the Pegasus Project.
