Payment Options

Notice:  Customers are strongly enouraged to contact Customer Service to work out a payment plan or seek assistance through the following programs:

Credit Card Payments - Credit card payments are available through Certified You will be asked to pay a convenience fee of 2.85%, with a $1 minimum, based upon the amount of your payment. If you agree to pay the convenience fee, you will be given a confirmation number which you should keep for your records.

Customers can also pay by credit card over the phone by calling 1-866-549-1010 and entering bureau code 5597300. The convenience fee will apply.

Credit card payments are now accepted at the Customer Service Department located at 400 Boardman Avenue (convenience fee of 2.85%, with a $1 minimum applies)

Online Account Access – Use the online account to view your current or past utility bills, view up to 36 months of electric and water usage history or pay your utility bill online using a credit card. A convenience fee of 2.85%, with a $1 minimum fee, will be charged when paying by credit card. Click here to be redirected to the online account system. Automatic Bank Drafting – Have your utility bill automatically drafted from your bank account by downloading the form here. If you have questions, please contact Customer Service at 231-922-4431.

Bill E-Notifications – Go paperless! To enroll, contact Customer Service at 231-922-4431 or email Be prepared to provide your email and account number. Once enrolled, you can view your bill online by clicking here.

Mail – Place a stamp on the provided return envelope and enclose the remittance stub and a check made out to the City of Traverse City. Do not use tape, staples, and do not mail cash. Send payment to P.O. Box 592, Traverse City, MI 49685-0592.

Drop Box – Drop your payments off in the drop boxes located in front of the Governmental Center at 400 Boardman Avenue or the TCL&P office at 1131 Hastings Street. Please do not drop cash payments in the drop box.

Customer Service Department – Pay your bill in person at the Customer Service Department located at 400 Boardman Avenue. Cash, check, credit card (convenience fee of 2.85%, with a $1 minimum applies) and money orders are accepted at this location.
